What is a Trail Butter Nut Butter Blend?
Why have a single nut butter when you can have 2 or 3 in 1? We’ve combined your favorite nut butters and real-food ingredients to create a snack full of flavor and packed with nutrition to keep you going on or off the trail.
Where did Ozark Original, Mountaineer Maple, and Expedition Espresso go?
While the names originally used for Trail Butter will always hold a special place in our hearts, we realized from customer feedback that they were a bit confusing. Instead of being vague, we decided to just tell it like it is, in a matter of simplicity befitting of the simple, whole food ingredients in the product. Ozark Original is now Cranberries & Sunflower Nut Butter Blend; Mountaineer Maple is now Maple Syrup & Sea Salt Nut Butter Blend; and Expedition Espresso is now Dark Chocolate & Coffee Nut Butter Blend.
Where are the jars?
For the time-being, we’ve decided to put all of our resources and attention into making the best portable nut butter on the market. Realizing a jar can be perfect for those at home snacks or school-lunch-making sessions, we’re definitely not ruling out a jar in the future though. Your feedback would help us to determine which product types would serve you best. Please feel free to write to us at email@example.com if you feel a jar is a must in the TB line-up.
Did you change the formula as well? Some ingredients seem to be missing.
Trail Butter Nut Butter Blends are now peanut free, paleo-friendly, and soy-free across the board! Maple Syrup & Sea Salt, with the clover honey removed, is now vegan. On top of all that, we’ve made some minor tweaks to each flavor based on customer feedback that we feel make the flavors that much tastier and distinct.
How should I eat this stuff?
Trail Butter is delicious on its own if you’re, say, out on the trail and concerned about pack weight. One squeeze is going to not only deliver a highly tasty and satisfying snack, but also a load of balanced nutrition, making Trail Butter a great option for instant whole-food nutrition while on a long hike or trail run or during a busy day at the office.
If you’re feeling crafty or in the mood for a little more variety, it’s also great spread on a piece of toast, with fresh fruit, in oatmeal, or on a cracker. Kids like it on celery, a new spin on “ants on a log.” Make a sandwich and call it a “TB and J.”
Does Trail Butter require kneading at room temperature?
We add a vegetable based emulsifier to prevent ingredient separation. However, a little separation may occur as it is an all-natural product.
What about cold temperatures? Do I need to knead the pouches?
Yes, the pouches require kneading as the heart-healthy coconut oil can harden at cooler temperatures. We understand this is an inconvenience for our winter outdoor enthusiasts, but we believe coconut oil is the best option for well-balanced nutrition. To keep your TB pouch squeezable, just stick it in a jacket pocket, preferably under a layer or two, and you should be good to go.
What is the shelf life of Trail Butter?
We have established a 1 year shelf life for unopened products. After opening, we recommend that you consume within 2-3 months.
Does Trail Butter require refrigeration after opening?
The short answer is no, it does not. We use only roasted nuts and dried ingredients that remain stable as long as they are not exposed to extreme heat. To maximize freshness or store longer than 2-3 months, it can be refrigerated. You’ll just need to warm to room temperature before it’s spreadable again

A big ‘NO’ on the high fructose corn syrup! Trail Butter is a 100% natural product sweetened predominantly with clover honey and maple syrup. Regarding processed sugars, our Cranberries & Sunflower Blend uses a high-quality semi-sweet chocolate that contains dextrose, as well as cranberries sweetened by natural sugar. Are there any other additives, supplements or sneaky ingredients in Trail Butter?
Nothing but real ingredients and our love!
Is Trail Butter certified Non-GMO (genetically modified organisms) or Organic?
