For this installment of our Retail Partner Spotlight, we have Portland's very own Mountain Shop! (pause for applause.)
Not only is The Shop the oldest local outdoor shop in the country, serving Portland for over 80 years, they were also one of the first to carry Trail Butter way back in 2012. If our math is correct, that's nearly TEN years ago!
We will always be grateful and have a soft spot in our buttery hearts for the Mountain Shop gang. The Shop offers the best camping, climbing, hiking, and skiing equipment available. They also have an array of rental packages, high-end demos, quality equipment repair, and the very best knowledge to get you outside safely and with a smile on your face.
So, swing on by if you're in Portland. The nice folks at The Shop will get you set up with everything you need for a memorable PNW adventure!

What makes your store so unique?
Mountain Shop was one of the first outdoor stores in the country opening our doors in 1937! We take pride in carrying a curated selection of small local brands and we offer extensive rental gear options ranging from a kids first pair of skis all the way to technical ice climbing tools to make getting outside accessible to a variety of people in our community.
One of Mountain Shop's early locations was opened in the Old Government Camp Hotel sitting in the shadow of Mount Hood in Government Camp, OR! Aside from being an outdoor store, the Mountain Shop was the early hub for the Mount Hood Ski Patrol and held beds for patients, sleeping facilities for patrollers, first aid supply storage, and served as the place where patrollers were dispatched to help injured skiers at Timberline, Ski Bowl, Summit, Glade, and Alpine Trails.
Favorite or Most Recommended 'Backyard Adventure'
If you are sticking around town and want to see some of the lesser explored areas of Forest Park, running or hiking one of the vert-heavy "Nasty Routes" as they are called will provide a remote feeling of adventure close to home. For the road bikers of the crew, heading up into the hills of Cornell, Thompson, Skyline, and Germantown roads will get those legs ready for ski season and provide some epic downhill for the soul!
Why Mountain Shop loves Trail Butter: "Mountain Shop has been a lover of Trail Butter since the beginning! We are big fans of the simple ingredients and amazing flavor combinations that can fuel our customers all the way to achieving their goals."
