Mary Metcalf was the first woman to race the entire Great Divide Mountain Bike Route from Banff to Mexico covering 2,745 miles in under 30 days and was featured in the 2010 documentary “Ride the Divide”. Mary is one of the earlier pioneers of bikepacking and also set course records for 24 hour solo mountain bike races and was 5th nationally for her ultra-endurance mtb racing.
Today Mary is a bikepacker and enduro racer with two little ones in tow. Mary was integral in launching Siren Bicycles and Hub Cyclery of Idyllwild, CA and is now a designer and marketer for bike shops and outdoor companies.
“In addition to my little ones, I most enjoy working with other women to hone their mtb skills and help them become comfortable in the backcountry. I lead overnight bikepacks for women and short women’s group rides from our shop as I gain my own endurance back on the mountain bike after having my little boys.”
